The weather is changing this time of year and for a lot of people that means dry or irritated skin. To prevent the winter from wreaking havoc on your skin, try this Aloe Vera + Cucumber Mask! Aloe Vera is a super plant with amazing healing properties. It is a mild exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, it stimulates cell generation which prevents scarring and wrinkles and if eaten it helps the intestine clean the skin from the inside out.

Cleopatra used Aloe Vera gel on her face and body as part of her beauty regimen.

Cucumber has some amazing benefits as well; it revitalizes the skin, reduces puffiness and redness around the eyes, soothes sunburns, treats large pores and helps to eliminate dark circles. Whether you have dry, sensitive, red or oily skin, this mask is perfect for you! Those with oily skin should personalize the mask’s recipe by adding a few drops of lemon. The citric acid in lemons works wonders on acne!

  • 1 Aloe Vera Leaf
  • 1 medium-sized cucumber
  • ½ a lemon (optional)

Mixing your Mask

  • Cut the Aloe Vera leaf in half so the inside is completely exposed on both halves.
  • Scrape the juice (gel) into your blender using a spoon.
  • Chop the cucumber into thin slices, save two slices and set aside.
  • (Optional) add a squeeze of lemon
  • Blend until all the cucumber is completely broken up.

Cucumbers are 90% water which helps relieve puffiness in your eyes while hydrating and cooling them.

Apply your Mask

Thoroughly wash your face with your normal cleanser and pat dry. Do not apply any moisturizer or products. Dip your fingertips into the mixture and rub all over the face, lips neck and chest. Apply your remaining two cucumber slices to your eyes and relax for 5 minutes.

Rinse face, neck and chest with warm water and pat dry. The mask will leave your skin glowing and completely rehydrated.

Tip: Always use a sunscreen moisturizer, regardless of the weather, to protect your skin from sun damage and free radicals. No less than SPF 25.

For optimal results, use this mask three times a week. If you have left over mask mixture, refrigerate immediately and it can be used for up to two days.
