As the weather begins to change and the sun comes out, I know many of you will be in search of a way to make your skin tan. Many tanning oils are made with harsh chemicals that will be absorbed by the skin and organs. This tanning oil is 100% natural and can be made of all organic ingredients.
Don’t forget: Tanning your skin can cause damage and early aging. Staying in the sun for an extended amount of time without sunscreen can cause your skin to burn. This tanning oil is not a sunscreen.
Let’s face it: Many of you are still going to tan anyway! That is why I wanted to share this recipe. If you are going to tan, it is best not to use the store-bought tanning oils. The harsh chemicals are not only dangerous for your skin, but are harmful once they are absorbed by your body. This tanning oil recipe is made of natural oils that are hydrating and are healthy for your body. You can also use all organic ingredients to make your oil organic!
What you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup of unrefined virgin coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil
- 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons of avocado oil
- 5-10 drops vanilla essential oil
- 5 drops of coconut essential oil
- Refillable spray bottle
What to do:
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl with a whisk. The coconut oil can cause the tanning oil to be pretty thick, so add extra of the other ingredients to make the oil thinner. Then, add the oil mixture to your spray bottle. If you’re having trouble getting the oil to spray, your mixture may be too thick.
Apply the oil to the skin you would like to tan and lie in the sun for no longer than 10 minutes. This oil does not have any SPF or sunscreen, so keep in mind your skin type and shade. Keep your skin safe by leaving the sunshine when your skin is becoming too hot.
