Did you know you can use aspirin to help heal your acne? As a licensed esthetician, I have used this simple trick many times to effectively treat acne. Aspirin contains salicylic acid, a product that you can find in many acne fighting products. The salicylic acid helps kill bacteria and dries out the acne. Try this at home for an easy anti-acne treatment.
Salicylic acid also helps smooth wrinkles, unclog pores, and reduce redness.
Be sure to wash your face before using this mask. I use a cleanser made for my normal-combination skin, but there are many cleansers that work for different skin types. If you wear this mask while you sleep, make sure you use a pillowcase that you wouldn’t mind touching the aspirin.
What you’ll need:
- 3-4 uncoated aspirin tablets
- A few drops of filtered water
What to do:
Crush the aspirin until it becomes a powder. Don’t worry if your aspirin powder isn’t like a sand, the pieces will dissolve in the water. Add a few drops of water to create a paste and apply the paste directly to the acne. You can also apply it to acne-prone areas as a preventive. Make sure to apply the paste after using your cleanser.
Feel free to sleep with the mask on and repeat as necessary. In the morning, rinse off and apply your moisturizer, toner, and sunscreen. The aspirin mask will have reduced acne and redness on your face and make it feel softer. You should be able to see and feel a difference in your skin!
Get creative and add in honey or lemon to your mask.
To personalize your mask for your needs, add an extra ingredient! For dry skin add a teaspoon of honey to your recipe. The honey will give you some extra moisture and keep your skin glowing. Lemons contain Vitamin C, which can help reduce sun damage. A teaspoon of lemon juice included in your face mask can soothe a sunburn.
