Warm drinks are always a fantastic and cozy idea during the chilly holidays. Instead of reaching for that hot chocolate, one of my favorite drinks to make is my Spicy Ginger Tea. Ginger helps speed up your metabolism and helps with inflammation, muscle soreness, and indigestion. Cloves help with bone preservation and they boost the immune system. The ginger in the tea adds a tinge of spicy flavor, this will add a kick to your step throughout the rest of your day.
Cardamom is used to detoxify the body, freshen breath and ease flu symptoms.
- Hot Water
- 2-3 tablespoons of minced ginger
- 1-2 whole star anise
- 3 whole cloves
- ¼ tablespoon ground cardamom
- ½ tablespoon of cinnamon powder
- Wash cloves and ginger
- Mince the ginger and set aside
What to do:
- In an empty teapot, add the ginger, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, and cardamom.
- Add hot water to the teapot then cover.
- Let sit for 5 minutes
- Add the raw honey
Tip: Honey is a delicious and healthier alternative to processed sugar, try it the next time you make a cup of tea or coffee!
Keep in mind that although tea is a great addition to your daily diet, nothing is more important to your body than eating healthy and exercising daily. Take a moment of your day to go for a run or do yoga, focus on your body and what it needs to be healthy. In the rush of things, we must remember to always pay attention to our bodies and identify the best ways to be healthy!
Try having a cup of ginger tea before meditation, you’ll notice instant relaxation of your muscles and joints.
This tea is also great to drink after a workout. The anti-inflammatory agent within the ingredients reduces my muscle soreness from my previous workouts and if you have any issues with your joints, the tea will help loosen your joints and muscles for an easier exercise. People like to say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, I like to think that my Spicy Holiday Ginger Tea will keep you feeling healthy, energized and ready for the day!
